Next year sees the return of Jack Bauer and that infamous ticking clock in a 12 episode return for 24.
Fox have announced that the new limited run series will be filmed and set in London in addition to other locations in Europe. Executive producer and co-showrunner Evan Katz said;
“We wanted the show’s return to be an event, and part of that was putting Jack in a very different context. Four years ago, we left Jack a fugitive from justice and we’re going to pick him up four years later in London.”
24: Live Another Day will still be set over the course of a single day, but given the reduced episode count each hour long episode won’t be set in the traditional near-real-time. Kiefer Sutherland is looking forward to bringing Jack Bauer’s brand of action to the UK;
“‘24’ has always had such a global sensibility. But to be able to tell this intense ‘24’-style story with the beauty of Europe’s history and architecture as the backdrop is going to be fascinating. Hopefully, by the time you’re finished watching an episode, you’ll feel like you’ve been there…on the edge of your seat.”
Hopefully Jack will still be able to get around with his usual frantic speed, no offense to the Mayor of London but ongoing delays on the various methods of public transport and never ending signal failures there might be a few episodes of Jack stuck on the Barkerloo line or intensely trying to top up his oyster card.
Helping Jack navigate his way through the underground will be the ever reliable Chloe, actress Mary Lynn Rajskub announced in August that she would reprise her role as the computer genius much to the approval of fans.
24: Live Another Day will be broadcast summer 2014.
