It's been just over a week since Star Wars: Battlefront finally made a return to consoles and PC. We've been crying out for it since the original Xbox and now... now on next generation consoles, the true reality of an epic struggle of good and evil is at your finger tips.

NO STORY

What? No story? Yes there's a campaign element to Star Wars: Battlefront but it's a very much A to B affair mixing in the online elements to ensure Battlefront is not just an pick up and play online game but at its core that's what Battlefront has always been! Save the story for the Force Awakens tie in or Lego Star Wars. Battlefont is one that demands an internet connection and a team!

LEGENDARY CHARACTERS

Our personal favourite? Playing as the Emporer, there's nothing better than letting loose that inner sadistic megalomaniac that shoots electricty from his hands.

Besides the Emporer, you can play as Han Solo, Princess Leia, Darth Vader and Boba Fett. Each have their pros and cons but each are a blast to play! There's nothing wrong with force choking a player and then cutting them down!

NO SHORTAGE OF GAME MODES

If death match is your thing, you're covered. Want to be the best fighter pilot in the Rebel alliance then hop in an X-Wing and take down those Imperial assholes in a fire fight for your life. There's a huge amount of online play here focused on making sure that gamers keep playing and have a variety of game types to keep the game fresh for as long as possible until the first wave of downloadable content becomes available.

AIR COMBAT

There's one thing that has never really been right with the Battlefront series and now that's been fixed. Hop into any number of airborne vehicles and take to the sky for some epic dog fights. In Squadron mode you skills at manouvering and dog fighting will be put to the test but don't worry, even in other game modes you can provide air support to your friends on the ground but it's not as easy as it sounds... these machines are beasts to handle and in the right hands they can be truly deadly!

The real magic comes if you're  lucky enough to find the hero icon on the Squadron maps. Play as the Millenium Falcon or Slave I.

EWOK'S AND JAWA'S OH MY!

It's the little touches that do make Battlefront a memorable game. On Endor you'll see Ewok's running around trying to avoid the carnage unfolding on their home turf. On other maps Jawa's run in orderly lines into caves to escape the imperial threat.

However it's the brave little Ewok's that will reward you. If you're unlucky enough to get hit on the head by a projectile thrown by an Ewok then you'll discover an achievement unlock that wll put a smile on your face!

Just be thankful those little bears aren't fighting by your side...
