Amazon has made millions of people very happy by handing out an early renewal for their acclaimed series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Mere days after the third season landed on Amazon Prime, a fourth season has just been ordered, which will arrive around this time next year. Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls), the 50s set series finds Rachel Brosnahan's titular character break free from her housewife trappings to try and make it as a stand up comic.
Since its launch in 2017, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has amassed a considerable following and was recently nominated for two Golden Globes, including Best Actress for the brilliant Brosnahan. Speaking about the early pickup, Amy Sherman-Palladino (and executive producer Daniel Palladino) had this to say;
“We were thrilled to hear that for the fourth time, we do not have to pack up and vacate the premises. We’d like to thank Amazon for all their faith and support, their partnership and enthusiasm, and for letting us hang with our favorite people, the cast and crew of Maisel, for a little while longer.”
Jennifer Salke (Head of Amazon Studios) added;
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has been a worldwide phenomenon, and season three has been no exception, with the series’ most-watched opening weekend ever. We’re so happy that our Prime Video customers will get to see Midge’s story continue in season four. Amy and Dan have created such funny, charming, relatable characters, all with their inimitable wit and eye for detail, and our customers around the world will be delighted to have another season in the world of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”
If (like me) you devoured all ten episodes of season 3 within 48 hours of them being available, the confirmation of new episodes arriving next year will only serve as an excuse to watch it all again. There are very few TV shows that are as funny, well written, flawlessly cast, or as rewatchable as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. If you've not seen it yet, use the festive break to get all caught up.
