The third season of Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story came to an end in the US this week on FX, bowing out to a massive audience of 6 million viewers this is almost twice the number that tuned into last year’s finale.

This is good news for Ryan Murphy who has reportedly etched out the story for a potential fifth season already. There’s still no confirmation as to what the upcoming fourth installment will be focusing on, some pretty good fan made posters for American Horror Story Circus were doing the rounds late last year but Ryan Murphy shot those rumours down in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“I saw those posters, I don’t know where people came up with that idea. Sometimes I think its people wanting us to do topics and doing fan posters. No one has completely guessed what it is.”

Although Murphy didn’t reveal much about the as yet unwritten series he did drop a few teasing hints about what’s in store for the next chapter.

“If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there’s some more clues in that year. It’s a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we’ve done before. Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I’m very excited!”

We can but hope that the fourth season will also see the return of Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett, both actresses were nothing short of outstanding in their respective roles and have each voiced their desire to come back for more.
