Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang are set to hit the big screens again. While many fans were not fans of the live action films that came out early in the 2000s the animated series has always been much loved by fans old and young. So, with all that love in place, it has been announced that in 2018 there will be a new animated Scooby-Doo movie.
Warner Brothers have released this tentative date on top of all the LEGO movies that they will be churning out. There was talk back in 2014 that there would be a live action film, but these rumours seem to have died away pretty fast. This animated film will have Tony Cervon as the director. He has worked on Scooby-Doo projects before such as 2010's Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated. The writing will be left to Matt Liberman. He is an excellent writer who has also been given the Jetsons reboot. This wave of reboots seems to be tying a thread between all the Hanna-Barbera animations. Warner Brothers executive Greg Silverman says that:
“Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters. As one of their most famous brand ambassadors, Scooby-Doo will take the lead in re-introducing this pantheon of enduringly popular animated stars on a grand scale with an exciting new movie.”
The official date for the release is 21st September 2018. No names have been tied to the project just yet but we do know that the film has the green light and that it will be going ahead as planned. Scooby-Doo and the gang were a staple cartoon for many of us growing up and we can only hope that they wont let it be killed like they did with the live-action films. I actually rewatched Scobby-Doo Monsters Unleashed the other day. All I have to stay is that : No , please No.
