After months of speculation, it's now official that Marvel's Black Widow will get a simultaneous release in cinemas and on Disney+. Naturally, there's a twist as it won't be on the most recent release date of May 7; instead, the highly-anticipated movie will arrive on July 9, where it will be also be available to rent via Disney's Premier Access banner.

Black Widow isn't the only high-profile Disney title to get the same simultaneous release with the Emma Stone led Cruella, which will now hit cinemas (where available) and Premier Access on May 28. Disney+ hasn't had the best response to its previous simultaneous releases Mulan, and the recent Raya and the Last Dragon has yielded around $72 million theatrically since its launch on March 2. The majority of Raya's takings will undoubtedly come from Premier Access, where the movie will be available for three months before joining the rest of the Disney+ catalogue.

Meanwhile, the latest round of release date reshuffling has had the expected knock-on effect, with several other delayed titles getting fresh new dates. Marvel's Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been pushed to September 3, but it remains unclear if Eternals will still hit cinemas on November 3. The Ryan Reynolds fronted Free Guy will now arrive on August 13; Kingsman prequel, The King's Man, is rescheduled for December 22.  Starring Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, Deep Water is set for January 14, 2022, and Kenneth Brannagh's second stint as Hercules Poirot, Death on the Nile, will now be released on February 11, 2022.

The hybrid release for any Marvel titles was reportedly something that Kevin Feige wasn't in favour of, but with a growing backlog of movies, there's only so long Disney can sit on their blockbusters. You don't have to wait long for your next fix of the MCU with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier; the first episode quickly became the most-watched show on Disney+ after its first weekend. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O-T Fagbenle, William Hurt, Ray Winstone, and Rachel Weisz. Black Widow will be released in cinemas and on Disney+ Premier Access on July 9.
