Greetings movie lovers! We kick off this beautiful summer week with one of the strangest movies of the year, Men. Harper (Jessie Buckley) is looking for a change after a horrifying personal loss and decides to flee London and rent an idyllic cottage in the English countryside. But the more Harper explores the strange little town, the heavier the sense of dread around her becomes and the more threatened she feels. Now she must try to deal with her grief while also dealing with the reality of her situation, and both might be on the verge of shattering.

Men is the newest film from the studio A24, known for their unique and quirky releasing including this year’s fantastic Everything Everywhere All At Once and Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. Men is a film you will have hours of discussion about afterwards with friends, trying to figure out what it is you just saw. Nothing is laid out for you, but it is a beautifully dreadful film that is very unsettling and impeccably done. Jessie Buckley is fantastic and Rory Kinnear gives a performance, or performances, like nothing I have ever seen. If your thing is unusually and out of the ordinary, give Men a shot.

Also of note this week is the new adventure/comedy The Lost City with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, the newest Marvel Universe film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with Benedict Cumberbatch, and a new 4K special edition of the 1995 horror cult classic Species with Natasha Henstridge.
