A while back in Marvel Comics we had the return of one of the true madmen of the universe. I am of course talking about Carnage. At the end of Maximum Carnage the Sentry left his upper torso in orbit around the Earth after tearing him in half for going on a massive killing spree through New York. By the end of that five issue arc (his return, not MC) we had the birth of a new symbiote character, Scorn. Carnage had gotten away along with Doppleganger and Spiderman was left worrying about the amount of blood that was inevitably going to be shed.
A few months have past, both in the real world and in the Marvel Universe and we get to see Carnage's plans. A small town in Colorado is home to a meat preparation facility where Cletus Kasady shows up having consumed a lot of beef. He transforms into Carnage and through the water systems ends up infecting every member of the town with his symbiote (Including a little baby spawn that I want to see a Halloween suit for) with the one exception being the town sheriff who he sets on the road with a message. That message is carved into his skin with the numerous spelling and grammatical mistakes scratched out and the words re-carved, several times. Looks like Carnage is doing the take over the world bit and so the Avengers get dispatched. They arrive in town to find everyone under Kasady's control and the symbiote having grown to enormous proportions thanks to the 4000 cows it consumed. Quickly spreading it takes over Captain America, Hawkeye, Wolverine and The Thing and all contact is lost. Thankfully there's a handy computer screen in the CIA control center with fun little silhouettes of Venom, Toxin, Hybrid, Scorn and Anti-Venom all waiting to be contacted for an all out assault. Should be fun.
We continue with the great pairing of Wells and Crain who do a fantastic job of showing us the horrors and depths of Kasady's madness and they've really emphasized his sadism with the last six comics. I've enjoyed it thus far and while it's not groundbreaking work its solid entertainment that is well written and isn't shy about making fun of itself.
