Creepozoids DVD Review

One of three grindhouse titles coming to DVD this week; Creepozoids is probably the best known.

The year is 1998, six years after a nuclear apocalypse. The fallout plagues the remaining members of the human race with highly toxic acid rain. Whilst World War III rages on the crumbling earth fights back against both factions.

A group of Army Deserters find themselves on the run but with bad weather on the way they find themselves holed up in what appears to be a military lab. Discovering that the lab was meant for containment more than anything else the group begin to wonder what might await them round the corner. The group falls foul to giant rats and an unseen menace that just might mean the end for them.

As you can see, 1998 came and went with no hiccups but Creepozoids lives on with its wacky style and insane low budgetness.

Starring some of the biggest names in low budget horror, Creepozoids stars Linnea Quigley, Kim McKamy, Ken Abraham, Michael Aranda and Richard L. Hawkins. It's a small cast up against some truly terrifying stuffed terrors. With boobs, blood, guts and giant stuffed rats, this is grindhouse at its finest.

Cheaply cheerful yet awful at the same time but somehow you find yourself getting sucked in because it's so bad it's good. Something Dear God No attempted to emulate in the modern day but it attempted to be so bad it was just that... bad!

With giant rats you'd laugh at if you were confronted with them and a bisexual beast with a desire to French kiss any men and women that crosses its path. Creepozoids is simple cheap horror at its finest and 88 Films releasing the Full moon catalogue is a blessing to the modern world because they're not just focusing on the likes of Puppet Master and Subspecies; the well known titles from the US distributor.

They're taking the time to release things like Creepozoids, Dr Alien and Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity (All out this week); titles which aren't well known but remind us that a film doesn't have to carry a huge budget to be worthwhile!
