Wes Craven the creator of A Nightmare on Elm Street and Last House on the Left brings another bloody tale to the screen thanks to Arrow Films.

When Martha marries into a close knit sect she finds herself shunned as an outsider by its fanatical members but when her husband dies mysteriously, things take a darker turn. Marked as an incubus by her neighbours, time is running out for Martha and her visiting friends. Plagued by nightmares and fearing for their lives they face the violent fury of an old time religion!

Oh Wes Craven, I love you... Now people know where the bathroom shot for Elm Street originally came from, it was Deadly Blessing!!!

Starring Sharon Stone, Maren Jensen and Michael Berrymen this was very much before they were famous deal but to be honest it’s not on par with the stuff we’ve come to know Wes Craven for to this day.

Deadly Blessing is pretty simplistic in origin, mysterious deaths with a touch of supernatural flair which is Wes Craven’s signature. Here we get to see some of Craven’s earliest work and how it fed in to some of his popular titles that came after. However its not particularly gory or challenging, Deadly Blessing is a number of events that add a touch of mystery to a plot whose characters you really couldn’t care less about.

The Amish were a nice touch though, its a community we know separates itself from the world at large but we really don’t know much about them... apart from what TV and film tells us.

Sharon Stone is the star vehicle here, she may not have been at the time but she’s carved a remarkable career through TV and Film since Deadly Blessing was originally released. In a film that was probably challenging in its day, Deadly Blessing really hasn't stood the test of time and may have fallen flat had it not been for Arrow Films stepping in to the fray and offering up this astounding little package with new interviews, footage and additional content.

Not to mention a completely new High Definition transfer which really does show off just how much Arrow Films cares about the restoration and presentation of their products. Deadly Blessing has no right to look this good on blu-ray but it well and truly does. With lush blue skies, green fields and depth to the picture that puts some recent releases to shame, there's no denying that this is yet another stunning addition to Arrow's back catalogue!
