After the announcement of Frozen 2, media giant Walt Disney is out with another good news. Disney is going to release the live-action retelling of Beauty and the Beast on March 17, 2017. This is more action packed then you can imagine because the movie is going to be in 3D.
You will see Emma Watson back in the fantasy land with this one. The Harry Potter actress will play Belle. Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens will play the Beast and Luke Evans Gaston. Other cast members include Josh Gad as LeFou and Emma Thompson as Mrs Potts. Kevin Kline is going to join the cast as Belle’s father, Maurice.
The score of the film will be handled by Alan Menken who also wrote the Oscar-winning soundtracks for the 1991 animation film of the same name. Meken will write new songs which would be featured alongside the recordings from the 1991 film.
Beauty and the Beast will be directed by Bill Condon and the script will be handled by Stephen Chbosky. Bill Condon is known for his direction of two final instalments of the Twilight series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Stephen Chobsky has tasted success as a writer with his New York Times bestselling coming-of-age novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower (1999). He also wrote the screenplay for the film version of the same book. The book was also made into a movie recently starring Emma Watson. The Beauty and the Beast will be produced by Mandeville Films' Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman. The production will reportedly begin in May this year at Shepperton Studios in London.
Curiously, production house Lionsgate will open The Allegiant Series, Part 2 a week after Beauty and the Beast is slated for release. It remains to be seen which one of the two movies will win the honors at the box office!
