The Game of Thrones star Kit Harington says the fifth season of the hit series will be “shocking” as the norm of the show has been. Kit Harington plays Jon Snow in the fantasy drama, which recently had its global premiere at the Tower of London. The English actor says the makers of the series tend to flip-flop between a “story season and a shocking season”. Harington says the episodes of the season five are “like a horror film”.

Harington was one of the large ensemble cast that walked the red carpet recently at the London premiere of the series. The series will return to HBO on Sunday 12 April. Game of Thrones is known for its unexpected turns, something that George RR Martin seems to take special pleasure in. Game of Thrones fans have often tried to predict the events of the future episodes by reading Martin’s books, but the series often does not strictly follow the novels. The TV series is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin. The first novel in the series is called A Game of Thrones. Several unexpected deaths have occurred in the TV series but Harington is tight-lipped about his fate in the TV series.

Harington said there are many big shocks and events to come and that it is going to be a very “interesting season.”  It was thrilling week for the Game of Thrones fans because the latest teaser was made available online this week. The trailer focuses on Daenerys’ stake on the Iron Throne and her fiery dragons. Game of Thrones is set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos and interweaves several plot lines. The series has been shot in Northern Ireland and it is reported that the country’s economy has taken a big boost due to Game of Thrones-related tourism.
