In what is proving to be a rollercoaster of emotions for fans of the recently cancelled Manifest, the mystery series might be returning for a fourth season at NBC, maybe. According to Deadline, producers of the show are back in talks with NBC about a renewal. In what could be the first significant un-cancelling since NBC axed Timeless only to yield to the fan demand for a second season, Manifest is showing the network just how strong the fanbase is for the series.

Now, you might be wondering what has changed over at NBC in just over a month to cause a drastic change of heart. Well, several high-profile NBC shows fell through at the last minute, the fifth and final season of Good Girls couldn't reach terms with its cast, and the latest Law & Order spin-off For the Defense was dropped despite its straight to series order. Add to that a strong viewership, and Manifest could quickly fill one of those now vacant slots NBC has in their schedule.

In another twist in the story, Netflix, who previously passed on picking Manifest up, are back in the mix as a potential new home. Previously, series creator Jeff Rake attempted to find Manifest a new home almost immediately after news broke that the show wouldn't return for a fourth season. Netflix seemed like the natural fit to be their new home; the first two seasons are wildly popular on the streaming platform, but in an unexpected move, Netflix passed. At this stage, it is too early to say that season four is a sure thing, but with two interested parties, there is every reason to be optimistic that this isn't the end for Manifest.

Manifest Season 3 airs weekly on Sky Atlantic and is also available via Now TV.
