If you will excuse me, the Toronto Blue Jays have just entered the postseason for the first time in 22 years. I apologize for a lack of the stellar introduction that I usually provide. Today's intro is bare bones, except for the message: Go Jays Go!

  • I don’t understand the concept of The Voice. For the first few weeks, the judges have their backs turned to people singing. If the judges like what they hear, they press a big button to turn around to see who is singing. This competition is supposed to remove every characteristic except for “the voice”. However, after the judges pick who they like, it becomes just like American Idol. Maybe I am wrong with my assessment, because truthfully, I have only caught glimpses of the show. Oh, by the way, Christina Aguilera will be a judge in Season 10 (or maybe she's returning. I don't know). Source: Deadline
  • Despite the first film having been a financial failure, Will Forte says that he is still interested in making a second MacGruber (hopefully studios are also interested!). According to Forte, “it’s not a question of if but when”. This is good news for me. Source: Empire
  • I didn’t think Bob’s Burgers was going to last long. While I enjoyed the show, it felt like an oddity stuck between The Simpsons’ corpse and whatever it is that Family Guy does (there was also a strong odor coming from The Cleveland Show). Luckily, I was wrong, and now the show has been renewed for two more seasons. It feels weird reading that the show is in its sixth season, because it feels like the show just began. Source: Deadline
  • Despite Vin Diesel floating the possibility that he would direct Furious 8, it has now been confirmed that F. Gary Gray, hot off directing Straight Outta Compton, will direct the film. Source: Deadline
  • More Ghostbusters fuel for this boy’s ghost gut makes for ghost glut. Rick Moranis has turned down the chance to cameo in the reboot, stating, “I hope it’s terrific. But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?” This boy is now in a ghost rut. Source: AV Club
  • Terminator: Genisys is a bland film that I have already forgotten about seeing (all I remember is Arnie jumping from the helicopter). If you didn’t know, there were two sequels planned until Genisys did poorly. However, Dana Goldberg, one of the producers, is saying that the series is “re-adjusting”. Maybe she will re-adjust these films to the trash bin (that's how you do biting commentary). Source: Empire
  • Peter Sarsgaard has been added to the cast of Twin Peaks. Good. Source: Empire
  • To end this round-up on a possible down note, Netflix says that they will be raising their monthly costs by a dollar to new subscribers. It hasn’t been announced how current subscribers will be affected. Source: AV Club
