Starbucks is at the center of the most recent War on Christmas. Rather than have a festive holiday cup with a cute lil’ snowman, the company decided to go with a solid Communist Red colour on their cups. Critics have chosen to close their eyes regarding Starbucks’ Christmas Blend coffee, and have taken up the fight by telling baristas that their name is “Merry Christmas”, so that the barista will have to write that on their cup. Listen, if someone saying Happy Holidays over Merry Christmas rankles your feathers so badly, try taking up knitting (or another soul cleansing hobby) to calm down.

  • This past weekend’s two big releases did not fail to deliver big money to their studios, as both Spectre and The Peanuts Movie did well. The Martian finished in third, as it still manages to linger in the top-3 despite being in its sixth week of release. Source: Box Office Mojo
  • If I talk about Gamergate, does that mean that I will get a ton of people tweeting me nonsense? Unfortunately, Gamergate still exists, because the internet allows things that have no business existing the chance to flourish. Next year, Zoë Quinn’s memoir, Crash Override: How to Save the Internet From Itself, will be released, and studios are already competing to buy the book’s filming rights. Quinn was at the center of the Gamergate controversy. Even though no one has bought the rights yet, Scarlett Johansson is possibly set to star in the film. If you don’t know what Gamergate is, then you are a lucky person that I want to be. Source: Empire
  • Even though the Donald Trump episode of Saturday Night Live this past weekend was a travesty, it was a highly rated travesty. It was the highest rated episode of SNL in 4 years, which was to be expected, but it still doesn’t make it any easier to digest. It was the worst episode in recent memory. Some schmuck will now make a joke about SNL being Saturday Night Dead. Good joke, schmuck. Source: AV Club
  • Remember The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo? It was the book series that became a film franchise that no one paid any attention to? Well, the next film in the series, The Girl Who Played with Fire, will be getting made without Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, or David Fincher. “Okay, whatever”, says an unenthusiastic movie-going public. • Bill Burr, noted “haha” man, has an animated sitcom about to be released on Netflix on December 18th. There’s not anything for me to add, just some good ol’ fashioned news without my attempt to spice it up. Source: AV Club
