I watched the first two episodes of Scream Queens and I am confused. Who is the show's intended audience? It's like if Mean Girls had meaner girls, a less likable lead, was less funny, and also had a Ghostface-like serial killer in a plastic devil's outfit. There were a few funny moments, like when Ariana Grande's character continued to text the killer while they were attacking her. Other than that, I spent nearly 90 minutes on two episodes that were only okay, and in today's competitive television world, I don't know if I will continue watching episode three. I am writing this here because I am at a loss for writing anything more interesting.

  • This weekend's box office: Hotel Transylvania 2 did well, The Intern did okay, and The Green Inferno also did okay. However, the big win of the weekend was the audience’s refusal to pay for Roland Emmerich’s awful Stonewall. Why is it awful, you may be asking? Read this. Source: Box Office Mojo
  • Ridley Scott has revealed that while we all thought the Prometheus sequel would be unimaginatively called Prometheus 2, it will actually be called Alien: Paradise Lost. Scott unironically said, “It sounds intellectual, but there's a similarity to it [Milton’s Paradise Lost]." Scott, not intent in saying just one ridiculous thing, kept going: “For me, the original spaceship that I call the croissant was a battleship that contains these biomechanoid creatures, that are all about destruction." I have no idea why he calls the battleship a croissant. I assume that he made these statements with a humorous intent. Source: Empire Online
  • Mark Millar, against all odds, claims that Fantastic Four has the possibility of getting a sequel. Someone should ring the bell; this fight has gone on too long. I am the overly emotional crowd member crying for the fighter to stay down. Although, I guess this analogy supposes that I have an emotional reaction to Fantastic Four (is netural an emotion?). • If you were like me, you missed the theatre release of the SNL documentary, Live From New York! Luckily, NBC will be airing the doc before the 41st season premiere this week at 8PM. If you are interested in the history of SNL, I recommend reading the oral history book. Source: AV Club
  • The Simpsons are on their 27th season, which means that the writers are grasping for ideas (don’t believe me? Watch a new episode!). This season, Smithers will come out of the closet to Mr. Burns. This is such a momentous occasion, which means it will get a two-episode story arc (I believe the only other two-episode arc was the "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" episodes). At this point, The Simpsons is like my cat, they both continue to exist even though both should have been dead years ago. At least I enjoy my cat's insistence on living. Source: AV Club
