The odds of Zachary Quinto returning for the new series of Heroes were always fairly slim, speaking to Buzzfeed the Star Trek actor confirmed that he won’t be reprising Sylar for Heroes: Reborn.
"No, I'm not going to go back. I talked to them about it, and Tim [Kring] reached out to me when they decided they were going to do it. We had a great conversation, It was such a meaningful experience for me - I loved that job, I loved those people. I just felt like I didn't want to go back to it. Tim was very, very understanding. He was very understanding and supportive.
I'm thrilled that they're doing it, I'm thrilled that Jack Coleman is going back to it. And I know that they just cast Zach Levi, which is great. I mean, it's a great thing to be a part of. I just felt like I need to cultivate other outlets for myself.”
Tim Kring previously teased that some original cast me member would be making appearances, and he has yet to reveal which characters will be coming back or in what capacity. All we really know so far is that the new series takes place after the events of season four, Jack Coleman will reprise his role as Noah Bennet, and former Chuck star Zachary Levi is in the mix. Like millions of fans the world over, I loved the first season of Heroes but the subsequent seasons couldn’t retain the creative highs. I’m intrigued to see Heroes: Reborn carve out a new chapter with fresh characters, whilst I’m disappointed that Quinto won’t drop in for a cameo the new series would be wise to leave some of its character baggage behind.
Zachary Quinto is currently filming the US remake of hit Australian drama The Slap, the mini-series also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Uma Thurman and Thandie Newton, the series arrives on NBC February 12.
Heroes Reborn will begin its 13 episode run later this year.
