Wonder Woman 3 is moving ever closer to production as writer/director Patty Jenkins has revealed she has finished writing the script for the highly-anticipated sequel. While I think it's fair to say that Wonder Woman 1984 didn't reach the heights of the original, there was still a lot of fun to be had from the 80s set sequel. Admittedly, a good portion of that fun is from the brilliant Pedro Pascal doing his best to act himself into a better movie.
Shortly after the release of 1984, Jenkins confirmed that she would return to close out the trilogy, but her recent comments suggest she could be tempted back for a fourth instalment.
"And so, where I said that I was only going to do one, then oh my god, I have to do two. And then, I find myself saying, 'Oh my god, I'm antsy to do three.' And so, even now, I say, 'That's it' because I always plan a three-movie arc. There is a story that goes through these three different movies as a whole. But even now, I just wrote last week the final scene of Wonder Woman 3 and I thought, I might be interested to see what happens next. So you'll never know. They have asked us to think of ways to do more and it accidentally happens. But you'll never know. I have a lot of other films that I'm excited to do as well. And I love Gal Gadot so that makes it better too."
It's unlikely that Warner Bros will want Wonder Woman 3 to be the end of the road for the character, and the doors to the multiverse will be opening next year (hopefully) with the long-delayed Ezra Miller-led The Flash, so it's entirely possible that an alternative Wonder Woman could be introduced.
Elsewhere in the DC Universe, Gal Gadot has been rumoured to have a cameo in Shazam: Fury of the Gods and a possible role in The Flash, so there is plenty more from Wonder Woman coming our way soon.
