When Inside No. 9 debuted in 2014, it came with the news that BBC Two had already ordered a second series.  However, the BBC were not so quick to renew the show this time round as series two came to an end in April. After months of silence on the future of the series, Reece Shearsmith has confirmed via Twitter that a third batch of Inside No. 9 episodes is officially in the works.

“This is rumour control – here are the facts. We are indeed making a third series of “Inside No 9″. Steve and I have written the new series.”

The macabre anthology series is precisely what you would expect from half of The League of Gentlemen and the creators of Psychoville. Each standalone instalment takes us behind the closed doors of a different number nine address, usually with dark consequences for all involved.
The award-winning series attracted a range of guest stars including Gemma Arterton, Oona Chaplin, Denis Lawson, Sheridan Smith, Tom Riley, Jack Whitehall and David Warner.  As Halloween is just around the corner,  if you’ve yet to watch Psychoville or Inside No. 9 then do yourself a favour and seek them out immediately.

Reece Shearsmith can be seen next in episode nine (oh the irony) of the current series of Doctor Who, titled Sleep No More and penned by his League of Gentlemen chum Mark Gatiss it promises to be a spooky instalment. There is no official confirmation from the BBC as to when Inside No. 9 will return to our screens; the previous two series’ have been broadcast in the Spring and there’s no reason to expect that to change.
