Star Wars: The Old Republic Digs Deeper into the Social Gear Update

Bioware/EA have released a new trailer in order to show players what they can expect from the new social gear update. Social Gear can only be bought by those enjoying PvE content in a group, for every PvE conversation they partake in they receive social points which then determines which social gear they can buy.

Although to be fair being social on Star Wars: The Old Republic hasn't been easy recently; tomorrow sees the beginning of 'selected character transfers' due to the dwindling population on a number of servers killing social gameplay and of course the economy on those servers as a result. It's taken a long time to get to this point but thank the lord they're finally doing something about it before they lose even more players as a result of inaction!

Bioware and EA take quite a while to move on really important issues to their customer base and although people do indeed like or love the game, the "Coming Soon" response and lack of information really doesn't give the community any real hope that issues will be fixed 'Soon'.

However, I'm still miffed that as a player who only has time to enjoy the PvP Warzones on offer in the game, that I do not get social points for it. PvP on "Hidden Beks" (my server) has resulted in a number of friendships and great games as a result of communication yet we're exempt from the social point score due to the fact that we're not digesting the PvE content and therefore the wonderful video below will do absolutely nothing for me unless I chose to stop doing PvP for a month or so and take in the PvE content. Thus grinding my way to a social standing where I can enjoy PvP dressed as one of the sand people or something just as ridiculous.

Fix it!!! PvPers are social, they're forced to work together as a team and they deserve to receive social points as a result!
