The CW is having another attempt to launch a spin-off from Supernatural, and this time they might have just cracked the code by listening to what fans want. Wayward Sisters will get a backdoor pilot in the forthcoming thirteenth season of Supernatural and will be centred on Kim Rhodes' likable Sheriff Jody Mills.
According to Deadline, Wayward Sisters "tells the story of Sheriff Jody Mills and a group of troubled young women, all of them orphaned by supernatural tragedy. Under Mills' training and protection, the women will emerge as a supreme monster-fighting force." The potential series is being developed by Supernatural writers-producers Andrew Dabb, Robert Singer, Phil Sgriccia, and Robert Berens.
Two years ago, one Supernatural fan's idea for a Jody Mills centric spin-off titled Wayward Daughters went viral and garnered support from the Supernatural cast and crew. At the time, The CW were busy developing spin-off Bloodlines and introduced the main characters during the ninth season. However, The CW opted not to move forward with Bloodlines which only fuelled fan demand to see Wayward Daughters become a reality.
Jody Mills has been a formidable ally to the Winchesters since she made her debut on the show during its fifth season. She might have only made a total of twelve appearances over the last seven years, but the character has become a firm favourite with fans. Deadline also claims that Supernatural characters Claire Novak (Kathryn Newton) and runaway Alex Jones (Katherine Ramdeen) are likely to cross over to Wayward Sisters.
Supernatural season thirteen will launch in October, and we can't wait to see the previously announced animated episode that will see the Winchesters team up with Scooby Doo.
