In what has become something of an annual tradition, The CW has handed out early renewals to all of its existing scripted TV shows. A massive thirteen shows got the good news today including a straight to series order for Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene. It's especially great news for Legends of Tomorrow, In The Dark, and Roswell New Mexico as they've yet to air their current respective seasons.
The full line-up of renewals will see the return of All American, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Charmed, DC’S Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, The Flash, In The Dark, Legacies, Riverdale, Roswell New Mexico, and Supergirl. Naturally, there are two shows noticeably missing from that announcement with Arrow and Supernatural coming to an end with their current runs. We'll have to wait and see how the epic Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover pans out for Green Arrow, but at least we know all the surrounding shows will be back. After fifteen years fighting the forces of darkness, The Winchester Brothers will finally retire from the family business. There are still twelve episodes to go to wrap the series up ahead of the finale on May 18.
Here's what The CW President, Mark Pedowitz, had to say about the early pick-up for its entire scripted roster of shows.
“These early orders for next season give our production teams a head start in plotting out story arcs and a jump on hiring staff, and this also provides us with a strong foundation of established, fan-favourite CW shows to build on for next season. We’ve been thrilled with the creative direction of all three new series, and even though we are in the very early stages of our new full-stack streaming strategy, which allows viewers to catch up on our new shows from the beginning, we’re already seeing incredibly positive results from our multiplatform viewership for Nancy Drew and Batwoman.”
