The CW has handed out early renewals for the vast majority of its primetime lineup. Newbies Charmed and Vampire Diaries spin-off Legacies will be back for a second run, the former is particularly surprising as early fan reaction to the Charmed reboot wasn't positive.

The full roster of their CW offerings will return with Arrow (Season 8), Black Lightning (Season 3), DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (Season 5), The Flash (Season 6), and Supergirl (Season 5) all given the official thumbs up. No surprises here as this year's crossover event, Crisis On Infinite Earths, is already in the works.

Dynasty will return for the third season of the rebooted drama, and the Riverdale mystery will continue with season four. After fourteen seasons of hunting all manner of monsters, you could have been forgiven for thinking the Winchester brothers were going to ride off into the sunset. Think again, Supernatural isn't going anywhere as season fifteen is happening. The long-running series will air its 300th episode on February 7 which sees Pappa Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) returning for a guest appearance. Season fourteen episode count was reduced to 20 installments (down from its usual 23), and it is believed that season fifteen will be for a similar order.

Here's what CW president Mark Pedowitz had to say about the early renewal for the 2019/2020 schedule.

“This season, we expanded our primetime schedule to six nights with the addition of Sunday — which has been an unqualified success for the network, our affiliates and our advertisers. In addition to growing our schedule across the week, we also continue to add more year-round programming. The early renewal of these signature CW series gives us a head start on laying out the 2019-2020 season, and this is just the beginning. These shows provide a strong foundation for our multiplatform programming strategy, and we look forward to building on this with even more returning and new shows as we approach the May upfront.”
