Another Classic coming to home video (that sounds soooo old) from Arrow Video; remastering cult classics for a whole new audience.

Already out on DVD and Blu-ray in the US through Lions Gate Home Entertainment. It looks like Arrow video have brought together the best release of The King Of New York to date which will hit stores on June 25th in the UK.

Thing is? The Robin Hood syndrome; When it comes to drugs, murder and other heinous crimes does the good done from the blood money really atone for the sins committed to meet the charitable goal? That's the journey we'll take with Christopher Walken in this gritty cult gangster classic.

Arrow Films is pleased to announce that the highly anticipated deluxe Blu-ray, DVD & Steelbook editions of Abel Ferrara’s cult gangster classic KING OF NEW YORK, will be released in the UK on Monday June 25th.

Taking influence from the hard-edged crime capers of the 1930’s, KING OF NEW YORK stars Christopher Walken in electric form as the snakelike mob boss Frank White. Originally released in September 1990, on the same day as Goodfellas, KING OF NEW YORK is widely regarded as one of the most stylish and visually stunning movies of the decade.

Ferrara perfectly captures New York’s gritty underbelly. The near non-stop action showcases the vast contrasts of a city after the sun goes down; from the luxury Penthouses and restaurants of Manhattan, to crack dens, apartment blocks, and the rattling carriages of the New York subway.

KING OF NEW YORK features one of cinema’s legendary car chases, as White and an accomplice attempt to out-run undercover cops in the torrential rain.

Critically acclaimed upon release, KING OF NEW YORK helped to launch the careers of some of today’s most recognisable faces, alongside Christopher Walken star David Caruso (CSI’s Horatio Cane), Wesley Snipes (Blade), Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) and Steve Buscemi (Reservoir Dogs, Boardwalk Empire). The film features an incredible cutting edge hip-hop soundtrack by Schoolly D.

Christopher Walken is out of prison and back on the dirty streets of New York as convicted drug kingpin Frank White.

White returns to his old patch, vowing to use his influence and criminal enterprise for charitable means, but finds his city in a state of disarray. During his time on the inside, parasites have moved in to capture his business, and they do not share in his Robin Hood spirit.

White soon has his men back, and they are violently taking out the competition, stealing their stashes and turning a healthy profit, putting it towards building a new South Bronx hospital.

But you can’t make an omelette without breaking some heads ... As the street killings rise and the corrupt cops close in, White’s crazed mix of criminal psychosis and heartfelt charity threatens to tear apart everything he’s fought so hard to build ...
