Seven years after he hung up his hat and badge, Timothy Olyphant is returning to the world of Justified for a revival of the hit series. Based on the work of celebrated author Elmore Leonard, Olyphant stars as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, reassigned from Miami to the small town he grew up in, Givens unleashes his brand of western-styled justice. The revival was teased by FX last year, and Olyphant made no secret of his keenness to return to one of his most popular roles. The new limited series will be based on Leonard's book City Primeval: High Noon In Detroit, and finds Givens back in Florida doing what he does best.
Speaking about the long-awaited revival, FX President of Entertainment had this to say;
“Justified was one of the most critically acclaimed shows of the past decade and an adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s work that was so colourfully brought to life by Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens, Graham Yost and the entire team of producers, writers, directors and cast. To have this group come together again with Tim as Raylan in a new and different Elmore Leonard story is thrilling. I want to thank our showrunners Dave and Michael and their fellow executive producers Tim, Graham, Sarah and Carl, the Elmore Leonard estate as well as our partners at Sony Pictures Television, for making this possible.”
Sony Pictures Television President, Jeff Frost added;
“When Justified concluded, the love and affection for this exceptional series only grew and left audiences craving more Raylan Givens."
Since Justified left us back in 2015, Timothy Olyphant returned to his other iconic role as a soft-spoken yet tough as nails law enforcer with the Deadwood movie. So, it only feels right that he dust off the hat once more to give us more Justified. There's no exact date for when the limited series will land on FX, but Justified: City Primeval will arrive sometime this year.
