It's no secret that Fast and Furious stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson had a very public falling out during the filming of the eighth instalment. Shade was thrown in both directions, but it was clear from their lack of screen time that the beef between them was genuine. While Johnson has remained in the franchise via the Hobbs and Shaw spin-off, he has previously stated he wouldn't be returning for the final two movies.

Back in July, Johnson responded to Diesel's claim of using "tough love" to get the best performance from the cast, and Johnson didn't seem like he was willing to bury the hatchet.

“I laughed and I laughed hard. I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I’ll leave it at that. And that I’ve wished them well. I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me.”

However, Diesel has now publicly (via Instagram) asked Johnson to return to the franchise;

“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come,” Diesel wrote to the wrestler turned actor. “The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come. Legacy awaits.

I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo [Paul Walker]. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”

Aside from sounding like a scene from one of the movies, it does seem a little odd to make this request in the public domain; I would have thought Diesel would have Johnson's phone number or at least have his people reach out to his people. Either way, Diesel has left the ball very much in Dwayne Johnson's court; filming is due to start early next year for an April 2023 launch.
