The sequel to Goosebumps continues to gather pace and has added a trio of new cast members. Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs), Ken Jeong (Community), and Chris Parnell (Archer, Rick & Morty) have all signed up for the as yet undisclosed roles.

Starring Jack Black, Goosebumps arrived in cinemas back in 2015 and generated a modest $150 million worldwide. Based on R. L. Stine series of bestselling books, the movie version featured Jack Black as Stine who reluctantly assists a group of youngsters who unwittingly unleashed the monsters from his books into the real world. A fun premise was somewhat wasted with a horror comedy aimed at children that wasn't that scary or that funny.

Having sold more than 350 million books worldwide, the franchise potential with Goosebumps is there, and you can't blame Sony for wanting to have a second crack at making it work. After months of speculation about Jack Black's return, Varietyhas reported that the sequel won't be bringing him back, and there's no word yet on any of the cast from the first movie coming back. It was previously report indicated that the sequel would be subtitled Horrorland and draw its inspiration from the books, One Day At Horrorland and its follow-up Return To Horrorland. The Horrorland books centred on the Morris family who find themselves trapped in a haunted theme park, which is just the beginning of their nightmarish vacation.

Plot details for Goosebumps 2 are still being kept under wraps, and there's no confirmation that Horrorland is still the basis for the sequel. Also starring  Madison Iseman (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Jeremy Ray Taylor (IT), Caleel Harris (Think Like a Man), and Ben O’Brien (Manchester by the Sea), Goosebumps 2 is set for release on October 17.
