The eastern Bicol region of the Philippines was devastated by Super Typhoon Durian. Catastrophic landslides took thousands of lives and buried entire villages. After several years abroad, a Filipino poet named Benjamin Agusan returns from Russia to his village, which is now buried under mud and a new river. He wanders through the ravaged world, meeting up with old friends and lovers.
