Jason Sudeikis and Tyler Labine are worryingly close pals who, with old school friends Nick Kroll, Martin Starr, Lake Bell, Lindsay Sloane and Michelle Borth, use a summer house as an excuse to throw lavish, insane and high-concept parties over the season. However, when Eric's (Sudiekis) father decides it's time to sell up, he takes it upon himself to throw one final, grand bash. An orgy. Surprisingly, this idea doesn't really entice the group, beyond Eric and Mike (Labine), but as life hands everyone lemons (Unemployment, destructive relationships), one by one, the gang comes round to the idea.

A Good Old Fashioned Orgy (Which, if you're one of those who leaves a film when the title is mentioned, will get 17 minutes, 48 seconds of film) almost seems like it's daring to be a raunchy, extreme kind of comedy at the start, with all the R-rated swearing, nudity and heavy dialogue relating to sex, but as the film wears on, everything seems to tone down, and become a surprisingly sweet little comedy about growing up, with silly scenarios, and as ever when you have people like Jason Sudeikis, Martin Starr and Nick Kroll, absolutely hysterical exchanges and buttons on scenes.

Running a swift 90 minutes, A Good Old Fashioned Orgy never extends its welcome and frequently offers laugh-out-loud moments, befitting both the sweet tone of the film and the slightly raunchy element of the title/premise, and pretty much all the extremely neat cast get a shining moment, including Will Forte and Lucy Punch as a recently married couple who want in on the orgy, and David Koechner as an orgy veteran, willing to offer advice.

Not so mean and dark as a lot of modern comedies, nor as crude as you'd expect, A Good Old Fashioned Orgy is nicely paced and lots of fun. It's nice to have a good Sudeikis, Starr, Kroll film once in a while, and it's certainly a re-watchable affair. Highly recommended stuff.
