Legend of Galactic Heroes Gaiden is the fifth animated adaptation (counting films) of Yoshiki Tanaka's Legend of Galactic Heroes series of novels. The series was originally released in Japan between February 1998 and July 2000. The series consists of side stories which take place before the events in the original OVA series and it serves as a prequel.
