During the past several weeks, the writers of "13 Reasons Why" have been busy in talks to work on the 2nd season of the controversial show. One month after the first season being published on Netflix, the second season announcement has been made. The season closes with Jay Asher's book completed, but?show-runner Bryan Yorkey believes that there's much more in the story yet to be told.
What is the show all about?
Basically, the show has focused on today's culture. What environment woman live in. How men think, the way the boys are raised by their parents and so on. The show reveals some of the facts that everyone must keep in mind while surviving in this world.
Will Hannah be part of season 2?
The first season depicted the story of Hannah Baker, who attempted suicide and left behind 13 tapes revealing the secret behind her death. Season 2 will incorporate different timetables and another voice-over, and it won't originate from Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford) this time, but yes, the whole story will revolve around Hannah's demise.
The show will keep on depicting the next portion after Hannah's demise and the occasions that prompted the tragedy. Now, it will take the audience into Hannah's story, into the past. This season, the show will reveal the secrets of season 1. It will be interesting to see more about all the other secrets we didn't see in season 1.
Season 2 updates
For the second season, the showrunner Bryan Yorkey has many plans. Season 2 will begin a couple of months after the events of season 1. The tapes are no longer a huge piece of the story; however, another "analog technology" will be a part of the next season.
While talking to the Entertainment Weekly, Yorkey disclosed that:
"I knew by the time we finished season 1 that I wanted to continue. We really have characters who, after 13 episodes, are just beginning the process of recovery and the process of coming to terms with what part they might've played in Hannah's death and how Hannah's death will change their lives going forward. I think that there is so much that's fascinating about the way we grieve, the way we recover, the way we learn to take better care of each other. I have heard from a number of people, 'Well we heard all her tapes so her story is done.' That's leaving aside the fact that for every tape there's another person who has a story, which is the person Hannah mentions on her tape. We saw Hannah's version of events unfold, but there's a lot more to be told also about those characters. To me, there's a tremendous amount that I still want to know. I've said a few times that this show is about the way we raise boys up into men and the way we treat girls and women in our culture - and what we could do better in both cases. And I realized we were just beginning the process of seeing these boys and girls grow up into men and women. It was something that we didn't get to watch with Hannah and I would really love to watch it with these other characters I've come to love."
Season 2 will take about 12 months to write and shoot. The release date will be around Early Spring 2018.
