It's coming, it's happening. Has there ever been a good computer game to film franchise? Yes we have guilty pleasures like Mario Bros and Tomb Raider but have any truly been lifted out of the pit of a formulaic transfer to the big screen?
The first trailer has arrived for Assassin's Creed one of the biggest storytelling gaming franchises of all time and well... it looks like the Prince of Persia flick that starred a muscle bound Jake Gyllenhaal. That's not good.
While we love action and adventure, there was little to no dialogue in this trailer to say "Hey here's a story, here's a common thread that will draw you into the world of Assassin's Creed". Not a gaming fan? Then you aren't going to have a clue what's going on here.
Considering trailers are used to sell film, we're kind of disappointed not only by the use of Kanye West (considering the games epic scores over the years) but the whole look and tone of it all. The Animus (the device which takes the main character back in time) and the parkour, looks great but the trailer is people running from point A to B. There's more to this franchise than that we're just hoping that in time, more of the story will reveal itself to us, not through clips but through TV spots.
