Earlier this week film critic Ali Arikan tweeted his followers;

“So here’s what I’m hearing about Episode VII. Casting and title announcements are imminent, possibly today or tomorrow. But that’s not all. I’ve heard word that there’ll be an announcement trailer/teaser featuring Luke. Tweeting this so I look like Nikki Finke if/when it happens.”

Ali Arikan is the head film reviewer for Dipnot TV and he’s been proven right with his Star Wars news in the past. There’s been plenty of rumours towards casting and recently Saoirse Ronan opened up about her audition describing it as “so much fun”. Casting announcements or a title reveal are likely as that early 2014 start date is edging ever closer. Perhaps Mark Hamill will introduce the title of the movie but doing that in-character might be a bit of a stretch but lets not rule it out entirely. Benedict Cumberbatch has been long rumoured to be inline for a role given his recent work for JJ Abrams on Star Trek Into Darkness. This is one rumour I am hoping turns out to be true.

At this stage it is a safe bet that some form of announcement is coming, a lack of Star Wars details were given at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con much to fans disapproval so a bumper helping of news is surely heading our way with the speed of a pod-racer, maybe.

Star Wars Episode VII arrives in cinemas summer 2015.
