The two space set Chrises from the MCU will be teaming up once again as Chris Pratt is joining Chris Hemsworth in Thor Love and Thunder. I think just about every MCU fan was beyond excited in the closing moments of Endgame by the prospect of Thor joining the Guardians of the Galaxy. The rapport between Starlord and Thor was one of the many joys of Avengers Infinity War, and while their screen time was short, it was loaded with possibilities.
At the time it was speculated that Chris Hemsworth might join the cast of James Gunn's delayed sequel, that may still happen, but we'll see more of Thor and Starlord's budding bromance much sooner than expected. According to Variety, the rest of the Guardians will also be making an appearance in the new Thor movie, but it remains unclear how much of a role the ensemble will play.
Taika Waititi returns to direct his second Thor movie after Ragnarok's success, and he's bringing Natalie Portman back to the franchise. However, there will be a slight change as she's not returning as Jane Foster entirely as she'll be playing The Mighty Thor as well. Portman teased her role in a recent interview saying "She does have powers. It's not exactly the same as Thor. It's her own version of it. And, she's called The Mighty Thor."
Production is due to start in January with Tessa Thompson returning as Valykre (last seen in Endgame as the new ruler of New Asgard), and Taika Waititi will be back to voice Korg. While his character has yet to be revealed, former Batman star Christian Bale has also joined the cast. If the rumours are true, Bale will be the main villain, which is rather exciting.
Thor Love and Thunder is currently set for release in February 2022.
