DC Comics has announced that it is in the process of rebooting and updating some of those classic cartoons many of us grew up with. 2018 will see a new live-action Scooby-Doo movie and from then on we can expect to see not only reboots but a whole new cinematic universe. Entitled The Hanna-Barbera , the universe will see the likes of TopCat, The Flintstones, The Smurfs as well as other fan favourites all interacting with one another in some way .

This is exciting, but what really got me interested is the change in style that DC comics has chosen to adopt , as they plan the reboot. Scooby-Doo and his gang no longer had that childish colourfulness but have been given a very sleek new look. The comic artist ,Jim Lee ( Batman ), has updated the gang to look like cool , technologically savvy kids. Fans are not so keen on what he has done with Shaggy. He looks like one of those hipsters, tattoos and beard included. It will be interesting to see what kind of adventures this new gang will go on and if there will always be ' just a man in a mask' at the end of every adventure.

The Scooby Doo remake will also be accompanied by an animated series that will also hit screens in 2018. There has been no release date of yet. This film will also give rise to the Hanna-Barbera Universe I was telling you guys about. We can expect to see some crossovers , though again fans of the comics ad animated series are not quite sure how this would work as there are different time periods that come into play. Then again this is fiction, so anyone can create some kind of time machine ...right ? Other Hanna-Barbera comics that will get an upgrade are The Flintstone, The Jetsons ( which could be pretty epic and spacey) as well as TopCat. There is no news as to whether these will all get an animated series / movie but it would be exciting to see what DC and Warner Brothers can create.

Fans are not sure what to think about how the reboot will be handled. The once goofy and very child focused comics are turning  into something a little more grown up. Then again we are all very protective of the things we grew up with and love.

The NEW Scooby-Doo live action film entitled S.C.O.O.B will be released in 2018 and from then on we will start seeing the reboots, rewrites, and remakes of all those Wacky characters we came to know over our childhoods.
