The film that went into my ALL TIME TOP 10 after first viewing is coming to DVD and Blu-ray around the world thanks to it's fabulous distributor Walt Disney!! YAY!!!

The press release below is the UK version but lets have a look at the release dates expected and some of the cover art that's working its way on to websites around the world.

UK Release: 17th September
US Release: 25th September
German Release: 30th September
French Release: 28th August

Before we go on, the German and French set may be appealing but they will be Region Coded to Europe so please ensure your Blu-ray player is capable of playing Region B or all regions when you purchase the disk or you may be disappointed. Plus be aware that location names may appear in that countries native language along with any subtitles that may appear in the film... although I don't recall any subtitles. These are the trials and tribulations of seeking out the best available editions worldwide :)

First Up we have the US and UK Artwork!

All I can say is... PLEASE RECONSIDER if this is the final artwork. Both of these covers came from Amazon in the US and UK but I have to say considering all the posters that came out for the theatrical release of this AWESOME EPIC Marvel Comics adventure, the image used above just isn't up to standard when it comes to portraying just how amazing this film is... also there's no quote from us on the cover... I mean, REALLY!!! (Tee hee) will have exclusive rights to the steelbook in the UK but as of yet have not released the art for that.

Next up we have the German steelbook which has been listed on their website for some time.

Making great use of the one sheet art work, Germany so far have the best cover for the DVD/Blu-ray release of The Avengers/Avengers Assemble. Considering the amount of steelbooks that are issued through it's not hard to see that they do like to give consumers the best possible art to go with their collector's items... although the cover art they used from Dream Home was suspect! Although it does appear that this image may be a place holder... subject to change people, be aware, it is early days!

Finally we have the French collectors edition with added Avengers Figurines!

I'm sure they don't look tacky in the slightest... honest... judging from the other art work on, fans will be treated the the One Sheet Poster artwork from the film  rather than the current US/UK art doing the rounds.

None of these are confirmed as of yet but it's nice to know what could be coming our way and it's going to be cheaper than I expected.

In my geeky brain I was thinking to myself "One of the highest grossing films of all time... well if I was going to market it to the masses and have geeks around the world digging DEEP into their pockets; I'd release a steelbook with the one sheet art BUT then I'd also release a steelbook featuring cover art for each individual Avenger.

Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America, Nick Fury, The Hulk, Hawkeye and Thor. The Spines on these individual steelbooks would make up The Avengers Logo but if I were really mean I'd re-release Iron Man 1 & 2, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk and any other Marvel Assets associated with the Avengers and add them to my OCD inducing collection... I must have them all!!!

Geeks like collectors items and the more limited they are, the more money they will spend... even if it means owning the film five times over!

This is a day one purchase for me... DVD? PAH?!?! High definition all the way... I'll be tracking special editions popping up on websites around the world!!! Only the best when it comes to my hero Joss Whedon, only the best! I'm gushing right now, I'm literally excited as I write this and I'm thinking of ways to break into Disney/Marvel vaults and steal any signed or prototype merchandise they may be hiding away!

Take a look at the press release below which tells you more about what to expect on the UK release and keep an eye out for an amazing Avengers Phase One box set which will feature all the films leading up to this EPIC movie masterpiece!
