Good news for Star Wars fans eagerly anticipating the second season of The Mandalorian as Disney+ has confirmed when the acclaimed series will return. UK audiences haven't had been able to watch the first season yet, but The Mandalorian will resume his quest for all new episodes in October. For many Star Wars fans, the first live-action series was a more satisfying experience than the recent big-screen trilogy. While there will be another Star Wars movie at some point, the focus from Disney seems to be on small screen spin-offs. The Obi-Wan series has gone back into development, and there is already talk of a Mandalorian offshoot.
In addition to announcing The Mandalorian's return date, Disney+ also confirmed when Falcon and The Winter Soldier and WandaVision would debut on the streaming service. Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be the first Marvel series to arrive with an unspecified August launch. We glimpsed a slither of footage in the Disney+ Superbowl trailer with a full trailer expected to be attached to Black Widow. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan reprise their roles alongside Civil War's villain Daniel Brühl (Baron Helmut Zemo) and Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter.
Meanwhile, WandaVision will materialise earlier than its planned Spring 2021 release, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany return as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and Vision in what looks like a homage to 60s sitcoms. Olsen was recently confirmed to co-star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness, and the events of WandaVision will reportedly play a significant role in the movie. Both shows will stick to the weekly episode release format for their six-episode respective runs.
While the Superbowl trailer featured a very brief shot of Tom Hiddleston's Loki, despite being well into production the solo series for the God of Mischief isn't expected to arrive until next year. Disney+ will be available in the UK on March 24 for £5.99 a month or £59.99 for 12 months.
