Looks like Tony Stark will be bringing his close chum James “Rhodey” Rhodes AKA War Machine AKA Iron Patriot AKA not Terrence Howard into the Avengers family. Filming the blockbusting sequel kicks off in London early in the new year bringing Iron Man, Thor Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury and Hulk back together.

Joss Whedon is once again writing and directing the superhero team-up which finds our gang of champions squaring off against the maniacal Ultron (James Spader). The Avengers will also be welcoming new recruits in the form of brother and sister combo Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) into the fold. Due to a rather complicated character rights agreement between Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox, both studios can feature the two characters but earlier this year Marvel and Fox were at odds when Bryan Singer announced that Quicksilver would feature in X-Men: Days of Future. We’ll see Evan Peters’s (American Horror Story) take on Quicksilver a whole year before Taylor-Johnson joins the Avengers.

The next entry in the franchise will be Captain America: The Winter Soldier which is due in cinemas April 4, 2014. Recently it was announced that two days of reshoots in December and a further two weeks in January are required to polish the movie, there are no details as to the extent of the extra filming or which members of the cast are needed, but this isn’t expected to delay the release date.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is released May 1st 2015.
