Back in the mafia saddle, so to speak, Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer feature prominently in the newly released images and poster for the upcoming crime thriller The Family. Previously known as Malavita, this Luc Besson-directed action flick follows the story of a notorious mafia family whose relocation to Normandy, France under the witness protection program doesn’t quite go according to plan. Like Ray Liotta and his “egg noodles and ketchup” at the end of Goodfellas, the Manzoni family does its best to fit into its new surroundings, but as they say...“old habits die hard.” It doesn’t take long before the “Blakes” begin to sort things out the “family way.”

The first trailer for the film is supposed to be released later tonight, so check back HERE tomorrow for a look at some actual footage. Also Tommy Lee Jones, Dianna Agron, and John D’Leo, The Family is slated to be released in theatres on September 20th, 2013. Here is the movie’s official synopsis, followed by its first set of images and poster.

The darkly comedic action film The Family is the story of the Manzonis, a notorious mafia family who gets relocated to Normandy, France under the witness protection program. While they do their best to fit in, old habits die hard and they soon find themselves handling things the “family” way.
