Hot on the heels of the announcement that Hasbro is developing a TV series based on their game Risk with House of Cards creator Beau Willimon, another of their classic board games is getting the TV treatment. A new animated series based on the iconic whodunit, Clue. No details for series have been revealed, but producers at Fox Entertainment and Entertainment One are equally excited about the project. Fox Entertainment's Michael Thorn had this to say about the forthcoming series

“‘Colonel Mustard…In the Conservatory…With the lead pipe.’  By just hearing these colourful phrases alone, you immediately know what they mean — leaving no mystery as to why Clue is one of the most beloved board games-turned-IP of all time. We couldn’t be more excited to develop it as an animated series along with eOne and Bento Box.”

eOne’s President of Global Scripted Programming, Pancho Mansfield, added;

"We’re thrilled to team up once again with our great partners at Fox and also work with Bento Box on this exciting new series. Clue is an iconic whodunit property that exudes mystery and intrigue and has fans all over the world. We can’t wait to share our reimagined animated version with audiences.”

The new animated series isn't the only new take on Clue that is currently in the works at Fox. Muppets director James Bobin is still attached to helm the new live-action movie that has Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman on board to star. There hasn't been much in the way of updates for the last few months, so we'll have to wait and see if it's a project the ever-busy Reynolds has time for, he's got so much on that Deadpool 3 will shoot early next year at the earliest. For me, the original 80s movie of Clue remains the best adaptation of any kind of game be it board-based or video.
