The following article contains spoilers for season 2 of Harley Quinn.
The hit animated series Harley Quinn is getting a spin-off with news of a Kite Man led series coming to HBO Max. According to Deadline, the 10-episode spin-off will chart the misadventures of lovable oaf Kite Man and his new partner, Golden Glider, as they moonlight in crime to help pay for their impulse purchase of notorious dive bar Noonan's. The first off-shoot of the animated adventures of Harley Quinn comes to us from the same creative team of Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, Sam Register, Dean Lorey, and Kaley Cuoco.
While I was rooting for the blossoming relationship between Poison Ivy and Harley, it came at the cost of breaking the heart of Kite Man. In a world filled with heroes and villains, Kite Man was largely ineffectual as either, but he excelled at being a mostly decent guy with a can-do attitude and, yes, a fondness for Kites. Thankfully, Kite Man will bounce back and find love again in his very own show! Speaking about the new series, here's what HBO Max/Adult Swim's Suzanna Makkos had to say.
"We love the wild and fun world of Harley Quinn so much we just had to make a spin-off and who better to center it around than the outcast Kite Man. Justin, Patrick, and Dean have created the perfect local hangout for Gotham City's not-so-finest at Noonan's, where bar patrons can blow off steam after a long day of mayhem."
Warner Bros' Peter Girardi added;
"Harley Quinn unlocked a world of hilarious possibilities with the iconic superheroes and supervillains of the DC Universef. Exploring this world further with our partners at HBO Max and DC is going to be a lot of fun. Plus, after getting dumped by Poison Ivy, the least we could do was give Kite Man his own show."
The third season of Harley Quinn is due to arrive later this year; if you've yet to check out it, do yourself a favour and watch it as soon as possible.
