How I Met Your Mother Season 7 DVD Review

Narrated by Ted's future self, he tells his children the story of how he met their mother.

In its seventh season, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) prepares for his wedding to a mystery bride, he and Ted (Josh Radnor) reminisce about Punchy's (Chris Romano) wedding, and Robin (Cobie Smulders) considers telling Barney she has feelings for him. Add to that Lily (Alyson Hannigan) and Marshall (Jason Segel) are planning on moving out of the city to give their unborn child a better life but what will that mean for the friends they know and love?

I usually hate starting TV shows so late in the game, I normally go to the first season and work my way through but due to time and money constraints I couldn't do that with How I Met Your Mother Season Seven, not that it mattered because this show is such an easy one to pick up!

Six friends, all connected to one and other, tell each other EVERYTHING... it's tough enough to find one friend like that but six? Good golly this is a lucky bunch indeed but when Robin starts dating a shrink (Kal Penn) he begins to point out some very unhealthy behaviour patterns in this groups dynamic.

Where to begin? There's so much to start with and I can say with no reserved judgement that How I Met Your Mother is great, it's easy to pick up and it does such an amazingly clever thing that 'Friends' failed to do and that's balance the comedy and drama. First of all this show is a comedy but it does such a divisive thing when it comes to the harder topics in the show...

...It slips them in there, slowly, slowly, biding its time until you realise you're connecting with the characters on a level that really shouldn't be a priority in an American sitcom. Add to this the occasional musical number from Neil Patrick Harris and you have a sure fire hit!

It's quite remarkable the work that has gone into ensuring that the drama does not over power the comedy despite there being some truly hard hitting issues when it comes to the dynamic and the relationships in the group.

It's a laugh a minute and it's exceptional comedy with a cast of loveable and somewhat hammy characters.

I still can't believe that Robin (Smulders) is an Agent of SHIELD in the Avengers!

There's not really many negatives I can mention when it comes to the show but it totally took me by surprise just how much I enjoyed this Sitcom! When UK talent is struggling to come up with good comedy, look to the US especially if Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan are involved.

Turns out there is life after Buffy but I kinda wish we still had Buffy!
