Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar is just a couple of weeks away from touching down in cinemas worldwide, the highly anticipated film is set to be shown on the largest number of Imax screens
CEO of Imax Entertainment Greg Foster made the announcement earlier today;
“It's the largest release in the history of our company. We're doing everything that we possibly can. The movie represents most everything that Imax tries to uphold in terms of our brand and the responsibility of the filmmaker and the quality of the film itself.”
Approximately 770 Imax screens will be showcasing Interstellar so there is no reason not to experience it in this phenomenal format. As an added incentive, Nolan has shot more than an hour of Imax footage for Interstellar which in itself is another record for the ambitious project. So far, we’ve seen a selection of trailers and TV spots that appear to reveal huge plot points but I have to believe that Mr Nolan only gives away what he needs to.
The highly secretive filmmaker is one of the select filmmakers that still shoots on film opposed to going digital, over the last decade Hollywood seems to be phasing out 35mm film stock. This digital movie making caused Kodak to be faced with potential closure as more and more studios abandoned film stock, thanks to the likes of J.J Abrams, Judd Apatow, Quentin Tarantino and Nolan a deal was struck to ensure Kodak remained in business.
Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathway, Michael Caine and Jessica Chastain, Interstellar launches into Imax cinemas in the US on November 5th before touching down in multiplexes everywhere on November 7th.
