Speaking to Collider about his upcoming slate of projects and how he plans to fit it all in, Jeremy Renner teased that Hawkeye could be in the mix for Captain America 3;
“There are rumblings of Captain America 3, I don’t know what’s going to happen there. I’ve got to find the time, man. [Laughs] I’m trying to stay home and I can’t.”
Aside from The Avengers, we’ve only seen Hawkeye in a brief cameo in Thor and of all earth’s mightiest heroes he’s the one we know the least but that could change depending on what’s in store for him in Age of Ultron. As a character, Hawkeye isn’t quite ready for a solo movie yet and Marvel are not currently planning to put one into development so a supporting role away from the full Avengers team will give Hawkeye more room to breathe.
The Winter Solider benefited from the presence of Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), this gave us the chance to finally get to know them a bit better as they were fully fledged supporting characters.The SHIELD focused sequel also introduced Falcon (Anthony Mackie) who recently confirmed he’ll be back for round 3. Anthony and Joe Russo will resume directing duties but beyond that there’s no further details on who else will be appearing.
Jeremy Renner has a busy schedule ahead of him with three active franchises all readying another entry, first up is Avengers: Age of Ultron, then he’s back on another team of daredevils for Mission Impossible 5 before going it alone as Aaron Cross for the fifth Bourne movie. There’s still no confirmation that Renner will reprise his role in the sequel to Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, the comic horror defied its damming reviews and notched up $226 million worldwide. Those rumblings could soon turn into announcements as Captain America 3 goes before cameras early next year for a 2016 release.
Captain America 3 is released May 6, 2016.
