He might have been missing in action for Infinity War, but Jeremy Renner makes a return to the Avengers as Hawkeye (or Ronin) with the highly-anticipated Endgame. The blockbuster sequel might be the end of the line for some characters; we'll be seeing Hawkeye again as he's just gone and landed himself a spin-off series on Disney+. According to Variety, the as yet untitled project "is said to be an adventure series in which Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, will pass the torch to Kate Bishop. Bishop is a Marvel Comics character who took up the Hawkeye mantle after Barton. She is also a member of the group known as the Young Avengers."
If you've seen the recent Endgame trailer, it features a brief scene of Clint training a promising young archer, it was assumed that she was his daughter, but could it be Kate Bishop? Was he training a protege following the fallout of Civil War? Is that where and when the series is set in the timeline? That's probably enough speculation for one day as Disney hasn't made an official statement about the series yet.
If Variety is correct (and there is no reason to think otherwise), it gives us an indication that the Young Avengers as a series is on the horizon. Naturally, it also suggests that Hawkeye survives the events of Endgame, but at this stage, it would be foolish to assume anything as we know so little about the plot. We know they'll be some kind of time travel element, but we'll have to wait until the film lands in cinemas to find out all the hows and whys.
Hawkeye becomes the fourth Marvel series for Disney+ joining The Vision & Scarlet Witch, Loki, and Falcon & Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) who are all getting spin-offs in the foreseeable future.
