We’ve known for some time that Disney plan on making at least three Star Wars spin-off movies to go alongside the new trilogy, there’s been plenty of speculation as to what characters will be given their own movie with Yoda, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi and bounty hunter Boba Fett all being in contention.

According to the reliable folks at AMC Movie Talk a Boba Fett movie is a sure thing and will be scripted by Empire Strikes Back co-writer Lawrence Kasdan. In an interview with Jon Schnepp on AMC Movie Talk the Metalocalpsye director said;

“One of them is Boba Fett, It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan.”

Back in October it was announced that Kasden had been brought in to rewrite Michael Arndt’s draft of the script for Star War Episode VII, director JJ Abrams was assisting with the rewrite and the duo are expected to hand in their draft later this month. Boba Fett first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back and has had his origins explored in Attack of the Clones and through multiple episodes of the now cancelled Clone Wars animated series.

Many Star Wars fans would argue that Empire Strikes Back is the best movie in the franchise, those learned clever devilishly handsome people would be right so news of Kasdan coming back to the fold was welcome news indeed. Early last year the rumour first surfaced that a Boba Fett movie could be on the cards, no firm details were given at the time but the film was said to take place between the the events of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. We’ll have to wait and see if this turns out to be true but we wouldn’t be surprised if confirmation from Disney comes in the very near future.
