Ever since the Disney/Fox deal was closed, Deadpool fans have been left wondering if the foul-mouthed hyper-violent superhero franchise would be watered down for the PG-13 friendly MCU. Plenty of Disney top brass have said the plan is to keep Deadpool R-Rated, but now we've heard it from Marvel boss Kevin Feige, but there might be a bit of a wait before seeing the Ryan Reynolds led sequel.

"It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now. It will not be filming this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life."

Working a character like Wade Wilson into the MCU will be challenging, but as the way forward for Marvel (and DC) is the Multiverse all things become possible. It is disappointing that Deadpool 3 won't be filming this year, it's already been three years since Deadpool 2, but there is a silver lining to be found. Just because Reynolds is too busy to shoot an entire movie, that does leave a cheeky cameo or a Nick Fury type post-credits scene. Both Spider-Man 3, and Doctor Strange 2 will open the doors to the multiverse, so don't be too surprised is the Merc with a Mouth pops up in there somewhere.

Our first slice of brand new MCU finally arrives later this week with the release of WandaVision on Disney+. The highly-anticipated series launches on the streaming platform with the first two instalments of the nine-episode event series. It remains unclear if Black Widow will still hit cinemas in May, but The Falcon and The Winter Soldier lands on Disney+ in March.
