Netflix has revealed when the final six episodes of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will be available, and it's not as soon as you might have expected. Netflix will release the second part of the fourth season on January 25th, 2019, what in the ham sandwich!

Earlier this month, Netflix broke millions of hearts by revealing that Kimmy Schmidt would be coming to an end after the fourth season. The bad times didn't stop there, the final batch of episodes wouldn't be available in the usual all at once tradition. Instead, Kimmy's last hurrah is coming to us in two six-episode parts. Sad face.

Created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, the original plan was for Kimmy to run for five seasons of thirteen episodes apiece. However, Carlock revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that although the fourth season wasn't envisioned as the end, it became clear during the creative process that it was time to bring the show to an end.

"We came into the season not necessarily thinking that way, but in the past few months, we've been thinking [the series] is heading toward its conclusion.

We were never quite sure what the life of the show wanted to be. When we split up this fourth season into kind of a fourth and a fifth, just in the boring, most practical way, you could think of them as two short seasons. One wouldn't be coming out until 2019, so it just felt like the right time to pull up stakes since we were kind of pushing ourselves into next year.”

On the more optimistic side, Netflix is currently in talks with  Tina Fey & Robert Carlock for a Kimmy Movie to say a proper goodbye to these quirky characters.

The first part of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is now streaming on Netflix.
