The superheroes from the Marvel world: X-Men, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man are some of Hollywood’s most bankable stars. Avengers: Age of Ultron has already raked in lots of cash at the box office and the fans are looking for more variety.

It’s been revealed that the man behind the Marvel superheroes franchise has set his sights on Nintendo gaming characters, including Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong. It may not be long before you see them on screen.

Leaked emails from Sony Pictures show that Marvel’s Toy Biz Company, hopes to secure the cast of Nintendo’s popular video games. The email mentioned that it plans to making a film on Super Smash Bros. The Sony documents came out describing Toy Biz Company’s “five-year chase” for the rights. There was much speculation that the company wanted the filming to be Avengers-style. They want to bring together the characters against one enemy.

Sony Pictures emails had disclosed in December that the top boss of Toy Biz Company was working on a Super Mario film. However, the news, as it stands now is that he wants to bring together all the characters in one movie.  If the hacked emails are to be believed, Sony Pictures former co-chair, Amy Pascal, had showed interest.

In a July message sent by producer Avi Arad, head of Marvel’s Toy Biz company to Pascal, ahead of his trip to Japan, he referred to Super Mario’s job, saying: “I am going to try and bring back a little plumber.” He further added: “I guess we can all use our pipes cleaned.” Arad finishes by saying he is also working on rights to Nintendo’s Pokémon.

It’s hard to say how easy it would be to secure rights to Nitendo series, but surely the fans would be waiting!
