Shiver Games have announced the release of their next game, Lucius II: The Prophecy, a sequel to the horror/stealth game of 2012 that first introduced us to little Lucius, son of Satan.
In the first game in Shiver Games' Lucius series, players were introduced to Lucius when he turned six – on the night where he discovered that he was not the child of a wealthy American couple living in a swanky manor, but the son of Satan himself. The Devil provides Lucius with his birthright – special supernatural powers, such as telekinesis and mind control – and instructs him on how to use them to claim his family's power as his own by stealthily killing them, one by one, in a variety of scenarios that appear to the untrained eye as “freak accidents” – after all, who would ever have believed little Lucius could have been responsible?
In this newest installment, Lucius is brought to St. Benedict's Hospital and had his powers removed by his fiendish father. In order to reclaim what is rightfully his, Lucius must slowly reacquire his power and combine them with strategic planning and cunning traps in order to take out members of the St. Benedict's Hospital and grow into his demonic heritage.
The story of Lucius II continues where the original left off: Lucius emerges as the lone survivor of the burning wreckage his parents once called home, unscathed from the ruthless slaughter he had unleashed. He had taken the weak and punished the wicked. He had looked through their souls and found the true selves they had been hiding.
Lucius is taken to the psychiatric ward of St. Benedict’s Hospital by unsuspecting caretakers. The Book of Revelation predicts the birth of a child that would end up ruling the world with an iron rod. The first part of this prophecy has been fulfilled. It is time to take care of the rest. Whispers of a prophecy find their way to the boy's ears. Lucius decides to act again to regain his powers. But little does he know of his new adversaries...
The game takes cues from cult horror movie franchise The Omen, so much so that you'd be forgiven for thinking the game was a much-belated movie tie-in. and also includes in-game references to other classic horror movies such as Rosemary's Baby and The Shining.
Lucius II: The Prophecy is available right now on Steam, with a special promotional reduced price for early buyers that ends on February 20th.
